Shanina Touson-Feigin: Light – Source – Peace

Curator: Ayelet Shalev
The paintings of Shanina Touson-Feigin (b. 1964, Uruguay; lives and works in Jerusalem) provide a glimpse into her rich inner world and the landscapes and colors within it. The windows of her Jerusalem home look out upon a panoramic view of the City of Jerusalem. This view has become an integral part of Shanina’s internal landscape. The sights and colors flow through her onto the canvas resulting in a truly expressive creation. She does not need to look out of the window while painting, but rather, turns her gaze inward and the landscapes emerge. It is as if the mountains, the trees, the sky, and the earth, are all inside of her. Shades of blue, white, orange and gold stand out in these internal landscapes. Silence and storm, depth and royal realm unite, and movement is melded into calmness.
