Imry Ben-Gera: Expressive Dots

Imry Ben-Gera (b. 1942, Haifa; lives and works in Ramat Yishai) initially studied drawing and painting at the University of Haifa external studies unit with the painter Doron Bar Adon, from whom he was influenced in his approach to drawing, the depiction of still life, and the use of color. His great love for objects led Ben-Gera to work on clay pots that he collected in the Galilee, in combination with metal, ropes, stones and paint. He also created figures from metal wires. Later, he began to paint in an abstract style in which he was influenced by his uncle, a painter from Haifa.

Ben-Gera graduated from the Wingate Physical Education Seminary and received a Master’s degree in the field. He has since served as a Physical Education instructor and Fitness Trainer. The current exhibition of colorful, lively paintings reflects the artist’s interest in Aboriginal art, and his energetic outlook on life.
