Tikkun

Cameri Theater

“Tikkun” is a play about identity. The story of a Haredi man of Mizrahi origin who grew up in a Lita’i world, achieved great success there, and in a moment of crisis, seeks his identity. All his life he struggled to adapt himself to the Lita’i identity, to gain the confidence of his rabbis. When he succeeded, the rabbis appointed him to head a Mizrahi yeshiva that is part of the Lita’i sect. He is proud of his role, but then is asked by the rabbis to send his students to the army, to meet the quota of Haredim who must serve in the IDF. When he begins to ask questions: why, exactly should the Mizrahi students serve in the military, while their Lita’i counterparts remain in the yeshiva, he finds himself confronted with a deep crisis.
