Shlomi Shaban and the Piano

A Special Production for the Jerusalem International Oud Festival

Featuring: Shlomi Shaban vocals, piano | Mark Eliyahu kamancheh | Kadosh Brothers oud | Ali Kadosh double bass | Elamar Kadosh drums, percussion

Singer-songwriter-pianist Shlomi Shaban returns to the Oud Festival with a special production for the festival. Shaban, one of the most original and influential creators in Israeli music, embarks on a musical journey between his songs and new worlds of sound, in an encounter moving between personal writing and improvisation, between East and West.

Joining him as a guest is Mark Eliyahu, one of Israel’s leading musicians and composers – an artist whose musical voice connects ancient traditions with a contemporary language and brings to the stage the depth of sound and emotion identified with him.

They will be joined by the Kadosh Brothers, among the intriguing voices of the new generation – an ensemble that places the oud at the heart of its music and expands its boundaries through influences of jazz, progressive rock and contemporary music. This is their first appearance at the Oud Festival and also their first onstage encounter with Shaban.

Shaban’s piano, Mark Eliyahu’s kamancheh and the Kadosh Brothers’ unique musical language will come together for an evening in which familiar songs take on new faces through a live dialogue between musical traditions, improvisation and contemporary creation.
