Following its great success and enthusiastic reviews, BOLERO X  by internationally acclaimed Israeli choreographer Shachar Benyamini arrives to the Jerusalem Theater. A powerful journey between contemporary dance and orchestral music, performed by 30 dancers of the Be’er Sheva Dance CompanyThis production marks a unique first-time artistic collaboration between Shachar Benyamini and composer Ariel Blumental. The original score, recorded by The Revolution Orchestra under the baton of Roy Oppenheim, accompanies the first two parts of the work.

The program includes three pieces:

Part I: APRIL
A powerful work grounded in a renewed exploration of rhythm, body, and group dynamics, as shaped in pivotal moments in the history of modern dance. The piece unfolds a ritualistic, timeless space in which the collective body forms a single living entity, while the individual moves between merging and resistance. Movement shifts between inner impulse and collective action, creating a sensory, almost mystical experience of a ritual in the making. An original orchestral score by Ariel Blumental combines traditional acoustic instruments with electronic elements, guitars, percussion, and synthesizers, resulting in a rich, complex, and surprising soundscape.

Part II: ARISE
A work that reexamines ideas of space, image, and sensation as they developed in the early 20th century. The choreography moves along a delicate, mystical, and sensual line – between minimalistic motion and physical eruption, between the individual and their surroundings, between attraction and distance. This is a timeless realm where the body appears as memory, longing, and impulse. In collaboration with Ariel Blumental, a new musical layer is woven, engaging with familiar materials while offering a contemporary interpretation in a richly orchestrated recorded score.

Part III: BOLERO X
The evening concludes with BOLERO X – a choreographic interpretation of an iconic musical structure, based on repetition, accumulation, and gradual intensification. It is a movement-driven progression built on a single rhythm and an evolving pattern that shifts in color and intensity over time.  The choreography focuses on the tension between individual and group, control and surrender, discipline and physical passion. Through repetition and precision, a powerful, almost ritualistic physical experience emerges, bringing all elements of the evening into a concentrated climax.
