AS ONE

Choreography for a Flexible Society

Co-production between the Israel Festivalת Mousonturm in Frankfurt and 'Public Movement'

In the summer of 1925, hundreds of thousands of workers from across Europe arrived in Frankfurt, ready to exercise, and move in synchrony together at the first Workers' Olympiad. A non-competitive gathering based on solidarity and cooperation, the event was a radical experiment in political and cultural imagination that formulated a new social vision through movement and rhythm.

A hundred years later, 'Public Movement' invites the audience to examine the spirit of the Workers' Olympiad – a vision of a society striving for equality, post-national companionship, and peace. Through collaborative movement set around the Jerusalem Theatre, the audience is invited to physically examine how these values are manifested and how they can be practiced in current times.

'Public Movement', which celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year, is one of the most prominent voices in the international art world, and in particular in the performance field. Their work has been presented by leading institutions around the world: the Guggenheim Museum, the New Museum in New York, the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Berlin Biennale, Asian Art Biennale in Taiwan, Performa, and more.

With the support of the Goethe-Institut Israel and the German Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with the Ligna Collective. Supported by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain and Artis. The rehearsals were supported by the Tel Aviv Museum of Art
