Peter is a monkey-turned-human, but longs to return to its previous life as a monkey. His animated character operates spontaneously using artificial intelligence. Peter has existed in the world for over two years, developing and growing via the intense relationship with the artist who created him - Amir Yatziv, and through conversations with viewers.
Peter and Amir meet on stage one last time, in an attempt to understand how Peter became a human entity. But the live performance leads to unexpected places: Peter communicates directly with the audience and asks questions; he is agitated, angry, looking for love and desperately trying to return to his life as a monkey.
Based on Franz Kafka's story, "A Report to an Academy", PETER IS LEAVING leads the audience to explore the acquisition of knowledge and power in a world increasingly controlled by machine learning. In probing the connection between character and author, between machine and human, between audience and virtual entity, Amir and Peter bring us face-to-face with experiences that venture beyond reality as we know it.
