Four actors - extras who died on set dozens of times, are resurrected from the editing room floors of the series and films in which they played, and come to the forefront. To Die For reenacts death scenes from the participants' careers, but shifts the focus to the people behind the representation. Behind every actor whose character died on screen is a person who chooses to encapsulate, with their own body, a surprising, violent, ridiculous, and sometimes unnecessary death. The anonymous bodies of the 'extra' actors satisfy the human curiosity towards calamity, gore, and spectacle.
The various representations of death work to dismantle mechanisms of pain and violence, while slowly unveiling the actors' efforts and readiness to be seen, receive recognition, and realize their dreams. As the performance progresses, it lays bare each actor's raw, personal connection to life and death.
