Matrouz – Both, And, and More.
We aren’t quite East, and we aren’t exactly West. We are both, and, and then some. We are a new "also" – a fresh identity born from the beautiful friction of the mix. We are inventing a whole new direction. The term Matrouz (Arabic for "interweaving") refers to the ancient Jewish tradition of "laying" Hebrew lyrics over Arabic melodies – the original Jewish mash-up.
Maestro Tom Cohen and the orchestra brew and serve a sensory experience of blended melodies, words, and voices. Joined by a cast of surprising guests – each a "both/and" in their own right – they tell stories from that nameless place. A place we might just call Inwards.
