"The Paper Brigade - an Extraordinary Story Yet to Be Told."
Musical director: Ohad Hitman
Featuring: Yiddishpiel Theatre actors
At the heart of the Vilna ghetto, under strict Nazi supervision, Avraham Sutzkever, Shmerke Kaczerginski, and a group of creators and fighters known as the "Paper Brigade" daily risked their lives to smuggle, save, and hide rare Jewish cultural treasures—including manuscripts, artworks, books, and poems—to prevent their disappearance from the world.
A gripping show featuring songs written in Vilna that have become an enduring part of Jewish memory: "Shtiler, shtiler," "Unter dayne vaisse shtern," and "Oyfn veg shtet a boym. The musical tells a story of human courage, creativity, and faith in the power of words to bring hope.
