Mother Courage, also known as Anna Fierling, is a humble trader who struggles to survive and feed her children during an endless war. She becomes trapped in a cruel cycle: soldiers need her supplies, and she relies on the war to keep going so she can keep trading. But every war has winners and losers. Although Mother Courage makes a small profit, she ends up losing everything.
This masterpiece by Bertolt Brecht depicts a strong woman who is forced to make tough decisions. How does one stay resilient and hopeful when everything around her is falling apart?
