My Friend Eva

Theatre Mornings – Quality Films with Fascinating Introductory Lectures and light refreshments

Spain, 2025
A film by Cesc Gai
Cast: Nora Navas, Rodrigo de la Serna, and Juan Diego Botto
100 minutes | Spanish with Hebrew and English subtitles

Eva has just turned fifty, twenty years into a marriage that has settled into habit. Two nearly grown children, seemingly a predictable routine. But a work trip to Rome changes everything. In the gleam of the Eternal City, she meets Alex—a quick-witted screenwriter in town for a brief escape—and the chemistry is instant. Returning to Barcelona, Eva knows she wants a restart—whatever the cost. The odds are slim, but desire has its own timetable… and love, it turns out, doesn’t come with an expiration date.

The screening will be preceded by a lecture by Hadas Zimmerman, gerontologist, a couple and family counselor, lecturer, and facilitator in the field of the elderly: Too late? Never! The power to choose at any age.
Can we fall in love again in life after fifty? Is there an age when it is too late to start over? The lecture will discuss the courage to break patterns, make decisions, and choose a new path at every stage of life.
