Yaakov is a yeshiva student who is sold into slavery after pogroms against the Jews of Poland. As a slave struggling to preserve his Jewishness, Yaakov falls in love with his master’s daughter, the gentile Wanda. The heroes face the forces of nature, but their real challenge is in facing human society. Their mutual love and forbidden desire send them on a journey from which there is no return
