All about Yves: fashion, art and Yves Saint Laurent
Figures in Fashion and Culture series
Editor and lecturer: Yaara Keidar, art curator, fashion historian, and doctoral student of the Cultural Studies Program
It is impossible to talk about fashion and art without celebrating the life and work of Yves Saint Laurent, the iconic designer of the twentieth century, for whom fashion and art were an inseparable whole. Art and artists inspired him and spurred him on to create, and his unique taste made him one of the most important art collectors worldwide.
The lecture centers on Saint Laurent's turbulent life story. He started his career at twenty as a chief designer in a housing company and then went on to found one of his generation's largest and most influential fashion houses.
