Fashion According to Andy Warhol
Figures in Fashion and Culture series
Editor and lecturer: Yaara Keidar, art curator, fashion historian, and doctoral student of the Hebrew University - the Cultural Studies Program
Andy Warhol dreamed of being buried in jeans. He began his journey as a shoe designer, created paper dresses, and formulated a new fashion language. Warhol understood how fashion can turn a character into a cultural icon: he "designed" his appearance, piously collected the hundreds of wigs he intermittently wore, and meticulously gathered around him an entourage that became an art creation in itself. The lecture follows the fascinating life story of Warhol, the superhero of Modern Art, and his avid love for fashion.
