The Bat Sheva Dance Company: Momo
Premiere by Ohad Naharin in collaboration with the troupe's dancers and Ariel Cohen
Momo has two souls: one, as if drawn from the depths of the earth - a soul charged with archetypes and myths of cohesive and raw masculinity, while the other is engaged in a constant quest for a unique and distinct DNA; one acts as an independent gravitational force, while the other consists of bodies hovering around that force - moving away, getting closer, making room for much-needed softness and relaxation.
With a soundtrack consisting primarily of Laurie Anderson's album Landfall and music by the Kronos Quartet, a shared Passion unfolds on stage with circles of beauty and deep sadness at its heart. Renunciation becomes devotion and the search for a crack, and stumblings in the movement code turn out to be free material, playful and touching.
