Rossini Cards

NDM Ballet Ostrava, Czechia

NDM Ballet Ostrava, Czechia is coming to Israel for the first time with 20 dancers from 12 countries in a spectacular and humorous dance celebration.

Programme:

Consequence
Choreography by Juanjo Arqués
Music by Alva Noto & Rjúiči Sakamoto, Jóhann Jóhannsson

Consequence questions the metaphysical theme of the ever-evolving relations between nature, the human, and technologies. The catastrophe that happened in Japan (2011) impacted Arqués’ overall concept and movement language, having the “control versus chaos” as a pivotal dialogue.

It describes the power of Nature versus our insignificance in front of the devastating force of nature, the Human as a contemplative lamentation over the sense of emptiness and loss after a catastrophic event, and the role of Technology as an expression of the human intellect and its grandeur that we perceive as a force that controls and threatens us.

Rossini Cards
Choreography by Mauro Bigonzeti
Music by Gioachino Rossini

Rossini Cards plays mainly on the music of the Italian composer Gioacchino Rossini, famous for his humorous operas (The Barber of Seville, La Cenerentola), who is also known as a gourmet and a splendid chef. A kaleidoscopic image of individual scenes for the viewer, a sequence of parallel images of life associated with different recipe cards that are placed one after another as if without any continuity. A spectacular dance feast complimented with stunning music.
