Sallah Shabati

The most successful Israeli musical of all times based on the film starring Haim Topol

Sallah Shabati immigrates to Israel from an Arab country with his wife Etroga and five children. Upon arrival, shortly after Israel's establishment, the family is sent to a transit camp. The quickly adapting Sallah reaches the status of leader within the immigrant community, not far from an ideology-stricken kibbutz. As the elections approach, various party reps offer Saleh "incentives" to win him over as ballot contractor for their party. Sallah, naive at first and yet increasingly manipulative later, takes advantage of the sprouting Israeli bureaucracy and gets hold of a new apartment in Israel.
