The Dybbuk

Gesher Theatre

A modern adaptation and interpretation of one of the most important classics of the Yiddish theatre

The story of the tragic love affair of Hanan and Leah, a kind of Jewish Romeo and Juliet. Hanan, a poor yeshiva student, hears that his beloved wealthy Leah, is about to marry someone else, and dies. Instead of moving on to the afterlife, his soul continues to linger in limbo between the two worlds - until the day of the wedding, when Hanan returns to Leah as a Dybbuk and takes over the soul of his beloved. A larger than life love story.

"If we will not be together, the world will cease to exist." (Hanan to Leah)
