Guy Hivroni: Dressed in Clay

Guy Hivroni (b. 1965, Jerusalem) creates his works out of a profound love for people and for clay. Using a combined technique of wheel-throwing and precise hand-building, he transforms cylindrical forms into sculpted garments that spark curiosity and invite introspection.

In the exhibition, Hivroni presents a series of ceramic sculptures - garments shaped in clay, empty yet deeply present. Dresses, coats, and suits stand as silent witnesses to an absent body, preserving echoes of touch, identity, emotion, and culture. Each piece offers a quiet space for thought, imagination, and inward wandering. Through the empty garment and the language of absence, Hivroni seeks to gently explore what is hidden from the eye - what the clothing once covered, protected, or held close. Dressed in Clay enjoins the visitor to view the exhibition with a slow, contemplative gaze. It is also an invitation to become aware of the texture of the clay, to read the nuances in its delicate folds, and to listen to the memory that is folded within the ceramic "fabric", to continue its story forward, and perhaps even to complete it.
