Albert Achdut: Touches

Albert Achdut (b. 1946, Iran) immigrated to Israel with his family at the age of five. The family lived at the Kadima transit camp for about seven years, and in 1957, moved to Jerusalem. There, he completed his early education at the Ge’ulim Elementary School and the Gymnasia Ha’ivrit (Hebrew Gymnasium) High School. In 1964, he enlisted in the army and served as a parachuting instructor. After his military service, he pursued academic studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Philosophy.
Painting entered his life in his thirties, around the time he became a father, though it remained a modest pursuit over the years. Only after his retirement did painting take on a central role in his life. In 1985, he studied lithography and etching at the Jerusalem Print Workshop. His work always begins with a moment of inspiration, which unfolds into an ongoing journey—one where the original idea evolves unexpectedly. By way of layers of form and color, a story reveals itself through the process of creation.
The exhibition presents a body of work with a distinctive personal style, marked by visual richness, formal diversity, and above all—a spirit of open-ended and uncompromising exploration.
