"On  October 7th, we  all woke up to a nightmare. ln the first hours, we didn't grasp the full extent of the disaster, and as time passed, it became clear that this was not just another war or terror attack. This is the closest thing to the Holocaust we have experienced since returning to our homeland. 

As a documentary photographer, it was clear to me that my role was to document for future generations, even if ו would witness sights that would never leave me. lt was also clear to me that denials would soon follow, and in a world that gives too much respect to fake news, I had to document this immediately, close to the event. 

ו spoke with Nathan Koenig, a volunteer with ZAKA, and asked to accompany him and his colleagues to document them at work during our darkest hours. "We're going into Kfar Aza tomorrow," Nathan told me, “Come and join us." ln the massacre at Kibbutz Kfar Aza, 64 people were murdered and 19 kibbutz members, including entire families, women, and children, were abducted by Hamas. During the massacre, the terrorists looted and set fire to the kibbutz homes with their occupants inside. 

ln this exhibition, you won't find images of bodies or body parts, but rather symbols: the bullet-riddled safe room door, the red eyes of a ZAKA volunteer stepping out for a cigarette, the refrigeration truck, and the line of charred cars reminiscent of the piles of shoes from the Holocaust. The photographs were taken amidst the constant roar of cannons firing towards Gaza and incessant sirens."
