Gabby Kelner and Hadar Cohen: Creating Connection

Gabby Kelner (b. 1963, Jerusalem; lives and works in Jerusalem) and Hadar Cohen (b. 1970, Kibbutz Gevulot; lives and works in Tsur Hadassa) present a joint exhibition.

The two friends paint figures and scenes in oil in a realistic style, touching on similar topics but from different perspectives.

Kelner chooses to look closely, to dwell on every detail, stain and wrinkle. She dives into the smallest details: the play of light and shadow, and color, with great appreciation for their beauty and uniqueness.

Hadar translates onto canvas aspects of her childhood experiences, focusing on family and friends, the family dog and other animals. She weaves her childhood memories with contemporary experience, facing the realities of life in this country.

Their works, exhibited one alongside the other, present a unique dialogue, relating to similar subjects each in her own way…
