Alma un Ruth—Alma and Ruth

Yiddishspiel Theater

Ruth, a young haredi woman who wrote a tempestuous first novel, is discovered by Alma, owner of a publishing house. The complex relationship between the two forces Ruth to lead a double life, which collapses when her activities are exposed by family members and she faces threats as a result of secrets revealed in her novel. In addition, Ruth’s faithfulness to Alma is undermined by tense relations between Alma and her rebellious daughter, who has become religious.
