Ilana has two loves: she is still in love with Alec, her first husband—a retired officer and intellectual—stern and capricious, chauvinistic and cynical, but a passionate lover; and her husband Michel Sommo—a sensitive, fatherly and generous businessman. Michel gives her security; Alec gives her excitement. In the course of the play, which covers many years, moving forward and backward in time, Ilana experiences her life story between her two relationships, deals with raising Boaz, her son fathered by Alec, who is raised by Michel, and with Alec’s ongoing illness. Her moving love story is also the story of the tremendous changes that occurred in Israeli society in recent years, changing elites and political crises.
