Let’s Cook an Opera—Gioachino Rossini
Magical Sounds Series
Magical Sounds, presented by Nitza Shaul
Grandma’s kitchen looks like after a major snowstorm, with white flour covering the entire room. Seven-year-old Gioachino Rossini stood on the table, looking like an old dwarf with white hair because of the flour covering his hair and eyebrows. “What is going on here?” grandmother asks. “Maybe you should finally go to school. You are in the kitchen all day long, not studying... go and play some music!” “I don’t want to!” little Rossini replied. “I like to play music, but what I like best is cooking!”
A comic performance with wild characters and segments from Rossini’s operas, acted and sung. Segments from Cinderella, The Barber of Seville, Tarantella, the Cat Duet and more
with the participation of vocalists, musicians and dancers
