Dostoevsky, the grand master of the psychological thriller, ushers us into the tangled maze of human thought and the shadowy corners of the subconscious. In "Crime and Punishment," he plunges headlong into the tormented mind of the criminal. With Rodion Raskolnikov, we travel the long, winding road from crime to punishment, stumbling with him through the thorny thickets of moral conflict. With virtuoso flair, Dostoevsky weaves the suspense of a thriller into the fabric of philosophical prose, spinning a tale that forces us to wrestle with questions of evil, guilt, and the faint glimmers of redemption.
Director Alexander Molochnikov – renowned for his daring and inventive stagings – reimagines this classic as a vibrant cabaret-carnival, where the voices of age-old heroes echo in startlingly fresh, modern tones.
