Nine measures – A Jerusalemite Fantasy
SidraTarbut 2025 – Opening Event
Music director, composer, and conductor: Orian Shukrun
Curator and scene editor: Shira Meishar
Artistic directors: Yael Gidanyan and Keren Ofer
"Nine measures of beauty descended upon the world; Jerusalem took nine," as the Talmudic saying goes. Yet, what is this beauty, if not a baffling mixture of pain and passion, love and lunacy, humor and harshness, walls and deals, clamors and songs?
In a lyrical homage to the city's whole and fractured mosaic, we'll embark on a bustling musical journey from films and series born among Jerusalem's alleys and stone edifices – nine cinematic glimpses of the Holy City and its inhabitants wrapped in fresh arrangements and original musical compositions performed by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra musicians and other artists. A Jerusalem video concert that fuses worlds, genres, and aesthetics, drawn together by reverence, love, and a keen ear for the sounds that rise from the earth's rocky soul.
