Hubra'la – A Jerusalem Celebration With Jacky Levy & Merav Siman Tov
Celebrating Jerusalem Day at the Jerusalem Theatre
Guest Artist: Hanan Yovel
Musicians: Guy Anto (guitar), Yaniv Kramer (percussion), and Yuval Talmor (bass)
With or without his beret, Jacky Levy has been telling Jerusalemite stories for over thirty years now - in eloquent Hebrew, with "Ain" and "Heth"... alone in front of a small group of listeners or alongside a band and singers. Why singers?- because every Jerusalemite knows that a story that doesn't connect to a song is like rice without beans or kugel without pickles.
Hubra'la (short for "Hubra La Yahdav," i.e., "Joint Together") is the show and the get-together that has been more successful than any other, running and ever-changing for years.
The esteemed singer-songwriter Merav Siman Tov was born and raised in Jerusalem. Her artistic collaborations include Yehuda Poliker, Shlomi Shabat, Miri Mesika, and Benny Barbash.
With classics like Sha'ar HaRahamim (The Gate of Mercy), Shabkhi Yerushalayim (Praise Jerusalem), and Al Kapav Yavi (He'll Bring on His Palms), alongside Melech (King) created by Merav herself, all the show's songs suit the characters and life scenes Jackie depicts by his words. Reminiscing scenes from Machane Yehuda to Sakharov Gardens, this celebration of songs, stories, and humor will make you laugh and fill your heart with nostalgia.
This time, Hubra'la will host the great singer-songwriter Hanan Yovel. Hanan is not a real Jerusalemite; it is true. Still, since he wrote Ani Ve Shimon VeMoïse Hakatan (Me and Shimon and Little Moïse), he can at least be considered a Jerusalemite honoris causa.
