The play deals with the daughter of a family of Gur Hassidim, a mother of seven daughters who refuses to obey the severe rules of Hassidic married life. After she divorced and was cut off from most of her daughters, she began a persistent struggle for her right to meet with them. Learning that her chances were nil, she lost her will to live. Before committing suicide, she published her book in which she described her life, focusing upon her efforts to live as she saw fit.
