The 11th Piano Festival

The artistic director of the festival, Prof. Michael Wolfewill give a short lecture at the beginning of each day of the festival (except Friday) that will refer to the works that will be played that day. At the center of the lectures will be the story of the life and creative work of Camille Saint-Saëns.

The meeting will feature fragments from short films centered around Camille Saint-Saëns:

Saint-Saëns conducts, plays and speaks (1904-1914)
Rare images and recordings of the composer

The Assassination of the Duke of Guise
(L‘Assassinat du Duc de Guise, 1908)
The first ever silent film for which an original score was written (by Saint-Saëns)

Danse Macabre (1922)
A short film inspired by the work of Saint-Saëns created a year after the composer's death
