Driving Miss Daisy

The Hebrew Theatre

A fun comedy based on the Academy Award-winning movie

By: Alfred Uhry

Director: Gadi Tsedaka

Cast: Sandra Sade, Salim Dao, and Yaniv Polishook

In 1948, Daisy Werthan, a 72-year-old well-to-do Jewish widow in Atlanta, Georgia, crashes her car into her neighbor's hedge. Subsequently, her son decides to hire her a driver, 60-year-old Hoke Colburn. Daisy doesn't easily accept the change in her lifestyle. She's aloof towards Hoke, refuses to cooperate with her son's "stratagem," and doesn't "want to poke eyes" or "give up her independence." Hoke, uneducated but pleasant and unrelenting, and equipped with a solid sense of humor, manages to gain the trust of the headstrong lady.
