"Houara" music pioneer Khadija El Warzazia and her band, Bnat El Houariyat, are coming to us from Marrakesh, Morocco, for a joint show with the international artist and creator Lala Tamar.
Khadija Al Warzazia is considered among the first women to appear as a "Gnawa" singer. She is a percussionist and leader of a women's dance and singing group with whom she performs worldwide, representing "Houara" music - a women's ceremonial chant sung in southwestern Morocco.
Lala Tamar, a virtuoso singer with a rare voice, is an international creator and an extraordinary singer in the Chaabi style - popular music revered in Morocco because of its festive nature. It expresses love, heartbreak, and beauty.
