The ballet "The Sleeping Beauty" is considered an encyclopedia of classical dance. This magical story, based on the famous fairy tale by Charles Perrault, has not left the stages of the world's leading theatres for over a century. This is an extraordinary production, for which Gordeev was awarded the prestigious Union of Western European Directors' prize for "The Most Grandiose Production of 2000". Set to the timeless music of Tchaikovsky and Marius Petipa's magnificent choreography, this production combines the magic of classical Russian ballet with sumptuous scenery, gold-adorned costumes, and virtuoso performances by dancers from the National Ballet Theatre's First Cast.
